Dial-up Internet service will be discontinued on October 31, 2013. We expect to continue providing DSL for a few more months.
Psyber.com is Closing
After nearly 20 years in the business, we will soon stop providing Internet access. I haven't set a date when we will cease service, and at this point I plan to continue running the servers that provide the service for now. At some point in the coming months, we will have to stop providing DSL and Dial-Up service. We no longer have anyone answering the phone to provide customer service and technical support.
Pay Your Bill On Time
Our bills go out on the 1st of every month and are due by 5 p.m. on the 15th. If we do not receive your payment on time, we're not going to call, send late notices, or charge you late fees. We're just going to turn off your account permanently. Please, if you move your service, let us know.
Frequently Asked Questions
Dial-up service will be discontinued on October 31, 2013.
We have no plans to shut off your DSL service on a specific date. We'll keep our servers up for several more months. We may provide service well into 2014. So it is not urgent that you switch. But as more customers do switch to other providers, it will eventually become impossible to pay the bills with declining revenues. We will let our customers know at least 30 days in advance of terminating any services.
If you use dial-up service, then you should switch immediately. We will stop providing dial-up service on October 31, 2013 and cancel all dial-up accounts that day. People who wish to keep their email addresses should let us know immediately, to continue that service.
If you have DSL, then not yet. But eventually, yes, you will. We will continue providing DSL while it makes financial sense to do so. How long we continue to do so depends on how quickly our customers switch providers.
If you need technical support, then you should switch promptly. We do not have any staff to help you out at this point and our phone number will only take a message. Nobody is on call to provide technical support.
After we stop providing Internet access, we do intend to provide email service for people who wish to keep their psyber.com email address for a longer period of time...maybe a long time. Obviously changing email addresses is quite a hassle and it's something we can continue to provide after we stop DSL and Dial-Up service.
We will discontinue Dial-Up Internet access October 31, 2013. If you have Dial-Up Internet access, we recommend you find an alternate provider IMMEDIATELY.
We will discontinue DSL Internet access in the next few months, or sometime in 2014. At this point in time, we can provide it for a while, but want to be frank with people that we are unable to provide technical support to go along with the basic service, so you can make your own decision about what is best for you.
We will continue to provide POP3 Email Accounts, web hosting plans, and some other services that are not Internet access.
Just call 916-645-4567 and leave a message with your account name, clearly letting us know what date you'd like the cancellation to be effective. Or email that information to email@example.com.
We cannot forward your email to a new address for technical reasons. We can continue providing you with email service via a POP3 account. The price of this is $15 per month for the first email address, and $3 per month for each additional email address. This must be automatically billed to a credit card on the 1st of each month for service that month. If you would like to continue email service, let us know when you cancel your account.
You can set up your email account in any email software, and even set up a Gmail account to check your psyber.com email. Here are the settings you'll need:
Of course you will. If you've prepaid your service for a future months and decide to go ahead and cancel your service, we will refund a prorated amount after we've processed the cancellation.
Yes. We bill on the 1st of the month. If your account is not paid in full by the 15th, we'll immediately disconnect service and will not turn it back on. We will not call you or provide any further notice. If you want to continue your service, pay on time.
I'm really sorry, but I may not have the time to. I'm going to do my best to help out everyone with problems and ease their transition, but we currently have no employees, and playing phone tag after working all day at my day job can be difficult. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for help if you want a faster response, and include all details.
Please be patient. If you've called about an accounting issue, or a prepayment refund, we will definitely handle it with integrity. However, due to the workload in dealing with other customers, it may not happen as quickly as we'd like. Please allow up to a month for processing accounting requests.
