Making Animated Gifs

The Theory

Some of the animation you see on the Web is not fancy programming stuff like Java or Shockwave, but simple GIF graphics used to their full potential. These graphics can be made not only to display a single image, but to display several images in succession like a slide show. Set to run quickly enough, it even looks "animated." This is the basic theory of GIF animation. All you need is a graphics program for making the images and a piece of software for creating the "slide show." Some software does both in one.
